Is Double Towing Legal in Wisconsin?

For most drivers, no. Double towing is prohibited in Wisconsin, with a narrow exception for certain recreational vehicle setups.

The specific exception under Wis. Stat. §348.08(1)(i) covers a 3-vehicle combination where:

A truck tows an RV, which then tows another recreational trailer or an empty trailer behind it.
The whole setup can not exceed 65 feet.
f the combined towed weight is over 3,000 pounds, at least one of the towed vehicles needs its own brakes.

And that exception disappears completely in winter conditions.

Where did my car go if it was towed by the police?

If the police ordered the tow, don’t panic. Your car didn’t disappear. To find your towed car, call the Greenfield Police Department non-emergency line. Confirm the retrieval fees. When you show up, have your valid driver’s license and current vehicle registration ready. They won’t release the car without both.

How much does it cost to retrieve my vehicle?
